Gifts for the Present
To invest in our community now, consider the following options:
- A cash gift
- A gift of securities, such as stocks or bonds
Each type of gift has specific tax advantages, so you’ll want to discuss the individual benefits with your financial advisor. Your gift can be directed toward an existing fund, or used to create an entirely new fund.
Gifts for the Future
In addition to making a gift now, you may choose to make a significant gift that will be realized by the Foundation after your lifetime. These gifts can include:
- A bequest in your will
- A gift of life insurance, by naming the foundation as the beneficiary of a new or existing policy, or by making the foundation the owner of a new or existing paid-up policy
- A Charitable Remainder Trust, by making a commitment to the Foundation while retaining the income or use of the property during your lifetime
- Making the North Bay and Area Community Foundation the direct beneficiary of a RRIF or RRSP
The Foundation staff will be happy to provide you with more information about each of these options and their tax implications. Of course, you’ll also want to talk to your family and financial advisor.
